Basketball Recap: North Central Texas Academy Pioneers vs. DasCHE Spartans

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers were the 60-46 winner over the DasCHE Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. North Central Texas Academy fell to the Spartans 51-47. While losing is never fun, North Central Texas Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while the Spartans are ranked 112th).

North Central Texas Academy lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Eric Cardenas, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Cardenas is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Diego Landin, who scored ten points.

DasCHE found their leader in underclassman Kaleb Jackson, who scored 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Tristan Clark was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for North Central Texas Academy and nudges their season record down to 15-12. As for DasCHE, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Central Texas Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Storm at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for DasCHE, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
