Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Squires vs. Oak Hill Golden Eagles

The Manchester Squires are taking a road trip to take on the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Manchester has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Saturday, Manchester came up short against Concord and fell 14-9.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Hill). They walked away with a 12-9 win over Bluffton on Saturday. Considering the Golden Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Harison York looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Oak Hill: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Aguilar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Oak Hill, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Manchester skirted past Oak Hill 9-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Squires since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
