Softball Game Preview: Arlington Spy Ponders vs. Billerica Memorial Indians

The Arlington Spy Ponders will head out to take on the Billerica Memorial Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Arlington earned a 9-4 victory over Winchester. The Spy Ponders haven't had any issues with the Red & Black recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Soline Fisher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zanna Felton-Quinn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Mackenzie Kuklentz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Billerica Memorial unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Central Catholic by a score of 4-3.

Billerica Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Arlington, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Arlington took their victory against Billerica Memorial in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Spy Ponders repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
