Baseball Game Preview: Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains vs. Margaretta Polar Bears

The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains will head out on the road to take on the Margaretta Polar Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopewell-Loudon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Margaretta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hopewell-Loudon made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Liberty-Benton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chieftains fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The Chieftains' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hopewell-Loudon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Margaretta came out on top against Plymouth on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Polar Bears walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Big Red. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Polar Bears.

Margaretta's win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.

Hopewell-Loudon was able to grind out a solid victory over Margaretta in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
