Football Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. Pace Patriots

The Bartram Trail Bears will head out to square off against the Pace Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Bartram Trail 12.7, Pace 4.4) so any points scored will be well earned.

Bartram Trail heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They fell 25-19 to Fletcher. The Bears' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Although Bartram Trail took the loss, they still got scores from Bralynne McDonald, Lily Holden, and Kianna Khun.

Bartram Trail didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of McDonald and Khun. McDonald got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Pace came tearing into Thursday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.1 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 20-7 win over the Eagles. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Eagles are ranked 63rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bartram Trail better keep an eye on Amaya Pablo. She was instrumental in Pace's win, throwing for 213 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 72 yards on only nine carries. Pablo also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes. Pace's leading receiver Emma Sutton was Pablo's top target yet again, picking up 46 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

One reason for the win was Pace's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Maci McGinnis refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by herself.

Bartram Trail's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Pace, their record now sits at 15-1.
