Softball Game Preview: Many Tigers vs. Hornbeck Hornets

The Many Tigers will square off against the Hornbeck Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Many came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Lakeside, falling 25-15. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Caroline Cedars was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Avaree Procell was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Cedars wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Many lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Hornbeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of East Beauregard. Even if the Hornets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Many's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Hornbeck, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Many's way against Hornbeck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Many made off with a 15-0 win. Does Many have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hornbeck turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
