Softball Game Preview: Homer-Center Wildcats vs. Portage Mustangs

The Homer-Center Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Portage Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Homer-Center fell victim to Conemaugh Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Blue Jays, falling 11-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-5 to Penn Cambria.

Portage's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Homer-Center, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Homer-Center was able to grind out a solid win over Portage in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
