Basketball Recap: Manchester Triumphs

There's no place like home for Manchester, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 39-38 win over the North Miami Warriors. The Squires have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Among those leading the charge was Molly Schannep, who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Sautter, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Manchester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

North Miami's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laney Musall, who scored 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Sailors, who earned six points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks.

Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for North Miami, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Manchester will take on Rochester at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Miami, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-36 victory against Caston on the 23rd.
