Softball Game Preview: Colton Wildcats vs. Rosalia Spartans

For the second straight game, Colton will face off against Rosalia. The Wildcats will square off against the Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colton has six straight victories, Rosalia has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Colton made easy work of Rosalia and carried off a 17-7 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Kiya Soza was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Leah Musson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Mere Bell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.

Colton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Colton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Rosalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
