Volleyball Recap: Germantown's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Clinton on Tuesday, Germantown came back down to earth. The Mavericks came up short against the Madison Central Jaguars on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mavericks have suffered against the Jaguars since September 23, 2021.

While Germantown ultimately came up short, they really made Madison Central work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.

Germantown's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juliana Shelnutt, who had 11 assists and seven digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Micheala Williamson, who had three digs and three aces.

Leading Madison Central to victory were Nikola Kukuckova and Caroline Mcintyre. Kukuckova had ten digs, while Mcintyre had 13 kills, six digs, and three aces. Those ten digs gave Kukuckova a new career-high.

Germantown's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11. As for Madison Central, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Germantown has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Murrah on the 16th. As for Madison Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Oxford on the 16th.
