Fairmont had won eight straight games and Taniya Simms did her part to make it nine on Friday. The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes enjoyed a cozy 45-30 win over the Red Springs Red Devils thanks in part to Simms, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played.

Lyric McNair was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 10 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in shooting accuracy (71%).

Red Springs' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrianna Locklear, who posted seven points.

Fairmont pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Red Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Fairmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-31 win against Midway on the 4th. As for Red Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-22 loss against St. Pauls on the 4th.
