Softball Recap: Pine Valley Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forestville Central, Pine Valley Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They skirted past the Brocton Bulldogs 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Danica Farnham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danielle West, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Hohl, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Pine Valley Central's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Brocton, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Pine Valley Central will host Silver Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Brocton, they are taking a road trip to take on Forestville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
