After flying high against the Maryvale Prep Matador last Tuesday, the BASIS Phoenix Firebirds came back down to earth. BASIS Phoenix was dealt a 73-23 defeat at the hands of the Cougars on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for BASIS Phoenix in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

BASIS Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Phoenix Christian, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. BASIS Phoenix and the Honey Badgers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Highland Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday. As for Phoenix Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northland Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Cougars are ranked 56th).
