Softball Preview: Lapwai Wildcats vs. Kendrick Tigers
Lapwai is 0-8 against Kendrick since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lapwai Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Kendrick Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Lapwai made easy work of Prairie and carried off a 21-7 win. The victory was just what Lapwai needed coming off of a 25-1 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Kendrick scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Garfield-Palouse a 21-0 shutout. The win was just what Kendrick needed coming off of an 18-8 loss in their prior matchup.
Taylor Boyer was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched. Boyer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hailey Taylor was a standout: she went 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and a triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennadie Kirk, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Lapwai made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-2. As for Kendrick, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
