Basketball Recap: Sand Creek Triumphs

If Mitchell wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sand Creek, they should've done a better job of containing Olivia Baker. The Sand Creek Scorpions took down the Mitchell Marauders 35-21 on Friday thanks in part to Baker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Tahji Vinson, who posted four points and six rebounds. Vinson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Mitchell's loss came despite strong showings from JayCionna Fisher and Jordyn Roberts. Fisher almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, while Roberts scored two points along with 12 rebounds and five steals.

Sand Creek's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Mitchell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Sand Creek has already played their next contest, a 52-15 defeat against Falcon on the 1st. As for Mitchell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-18 loss against Pueblo Centennial on the 3rd.
