Football Recap: Roanoke Catholic Takes a Loss

If Roanoke Catholic was riding high fresh off their 61-21 takedown of Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Celtics took a blow against the PikeView Panthers on Friday, falling 52-20. The Celtics were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

PikeView got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Mounts out in front who rushed for 198 yards and one TD while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Mounts has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Braydon Mullins was another key rusher, rushing for 93 yards and three scores.

Roanoke Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for PikeView, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Roanoke Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for PikeView, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Buffalo at 7:00 p.m.
