Soccer Game Preview: Melbourne vs. Satellite

The Melbourne Bulldogs will square off against the Satellite Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Melbourne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Melbourne's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bayside with a sharp 3-0 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Bears are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ryland Sandidge and Carlos Nieves scored all three of Melbourne's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Meanwhile, Satellite waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They had just enough and edged the Commodores out 2-1. That's two games straight that the Scorpions have won by just one goal.

Satellite used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Eau Gallie. And. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Joey Versaggi scored two goals, while he put up one assist.

Satellite pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four contests. As for Melbourne, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.
