Sherman is 2-8 against Denison since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bearcats will be playing at home against the Yellow Jackets at 6:45 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Sherman gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Anna with a sharp 16-1 win. With that victory, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Kendyll Applegate tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Brennah Mask was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kailiann Causey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Denison, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Greenville on Friday as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Denison let Addison Ciaccio and Jamison Milner run wild. Ciaccio went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Milner went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Milner's first of the season. Katie-Lynn Douglas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Denison lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-2 when they post two or more home runs.
Sherman's victory bumped their record up to 7-17-1. As for Denison, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-13.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sherman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Denison struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
