Baseball Recap: Boulder City Falls Short Against Ranked Basic

Boulder City faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (ten), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Cael Starley was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gauge Rhodes made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Robinson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Boulder City's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Basic, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Boulder City will take on Laughlin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Basic, they will square off against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
