Softball Game Preview: Miami Christian Victors vs. Merritt Island Christian Cougars

The Miami Christian Victors are taking a road trip to take on the Merritt Island Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Miami Christian heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Schoolhouse Prep by a score of 10-9.

Renata Silvas was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Romina Casillas, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Merritt Island Christian won against Master's Academy on Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Cougars blew past Morningside Academy 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Grace Ebert was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Montecalvo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Merritt Island Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Miami Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Miami Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Merritt Island Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .326.
