Basketball Game Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Northeastern Eagles

Currituck County is 2-8 against Northeastern since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Currituck County Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northeastern Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Currituck County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Northeastern likes a good challenge.

Currituck County took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pasquotank County, sneaking past 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since December 12, 2023.

Meanwhile, Northeastern came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Redskins 85-50. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Northeastern's win came from a few key players Currituck County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyell Saunders, who posted 14 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Z'Kobe Whidbee, who scored 17 points.

Currituck County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-9. As for Northeastern, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Currituck County was dealt a bruising 77-45 loss at the hands of Northeastern when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Currituck County was down 42-20.
