Soccer Recap: Central Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Central was not quite Smiths Station's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Smiths Station Panthers. If the Red Devils were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to them when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Their goal came courtesy of Colby Cook, who's now up to nine this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Central and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Smiths Station, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Central will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season. As for Smiths Station, they will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Opelika at 6:00 p.m. Smiths Station also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 3.7 goals per game.
