Basketball Recap: Haywood Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

If Bolivar Central wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Haywood, they should've done a better job of containing Camariya Woodland. The Haywood Tomcats strolled past the Bolivar Central Tigers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-41 thanks to Woodland, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Haywood's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Leia Yancey, who posted eight points and 18 rebounds. Haywood is 10-4 when Yancey posts eight or more boards, but 4-5 otherwise.

Haywood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. Bolivar Central is on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-22.

Looking ahead, Haywood will face off against Fayette Ware at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fayette Ware sitting on three straight wins and Haywood on five. Bolivar Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
