Softball Game Preview: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Bloomfield Bobcats

Shiprock is 1-9 against Bloomfield since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chieftains will face off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Shiprock has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shiprock came up short against Kirtland Central on Tuesday, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bloomfield challenged Aztec on Tuesday. The Bobcats fell 10-6 to the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Bloomfield saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catalina Munoz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Adriannah Romero also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Shiprock's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bloomfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Shiprock might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Bloomfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
