Softball Game Preview: Masconomet Regional Chieftains vs. Swampscott Big Blue

Masconomet Regional is a perfect 5-0 against Swampscott since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Chieftains will head out on the road to face off against the Big Blue at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Wednesday, Masconomet Regional came up short against Danvers and fell 6-2.

Masconomet Regional saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angie Vecchio, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Charlotte Leiss also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Swampscott unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 11-5 to Gloucester.

Masconomet Regional now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Swampscott, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Masconomet Regional was able to grind out a solid win over Swampscott in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Chieftains repeat their success, or do the Big Blue have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
