Baseball Game Preview: South Lake Eagles vs. Wekiva Mustangs

South Lake is a perfect 3-0 against Wekiva since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Neither South Lake nor Wekiva posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. South Lake fell just short of Edgewater by a score of 3-2.

N Mclees put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Lake is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise. Mclees was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Mclees wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Z Siokis, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wekiva was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to Ocoee.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for South Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wekiva struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

South Lake took their win against Wekiva in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
