League recap: North Branch's league-best two wins lead to standings climb

North Suburban league recap: 6/5/13

North Branch had a successful week, as it won two total games to lead the league. The Vikings beat Elk River 5-1 and Anoka 1-0.

North Branch made the biggest jump in the Minnesota state rankings, moving from 135 to 81 thanks to a 2-1 record over the past week.

The Vikings' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 21 hits and nine walks to lead North Suburban in both categories.

North Branch's Blake Jorgenson led the league in strikeouts this week with six. He's first in the league with 31 total strikeouts.



Jake Pilz's .429 batting average (3-for-7) for the Vikings was the best in the league this week. For the season, he's hitting .239, good for tenth in the league. Pilz has 11 hits total this season.
