Baseball Game Preview: Lake Forest Scouts vs. Waukegan Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Lake Forest will face off against Waukegan. The Scouts will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lake Forest will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Waukegan on Monday. The Scouts were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Bulldogs.

Charlie Melin and Nate Brezak dominated on the mound. Melin struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk), while Brezak struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lake Forest is 4-2 when Brezak allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Jack Lamberti was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bink Hartline, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lake Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lake Forest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Waukegan, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.
