Baseball Recap: Althoff Catholic's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Althoff Catholic won the last time they faced St. Louis HomeSchool P and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders won by a run and slipped past the Patriots 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Crusaders as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Dale Parker tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matches.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Zimmer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bo Gomric, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Althoff Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Althoff Catholic will host Litchfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Purple Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Granite City on the 16th.
