Byrd was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting East Fairmont. The Eagles came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Bridgeport extended the longest winning streak in Big Ten this week by beating University, 20-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Indians.
Nick Martin and L. J. Lawrence gave Elkins a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Martin threw for 71 yards and one touchdown, while Lawrence ran for 218 yards. Clayton Collett also contributed to the rushing game with 131 yards on the ground.
Shaquille Washington was the best wideout in the league this week as Fairmont fell to Frankfort. Washington tallied two receptions for 53 yards. Neil Scherich helped Fairmont's passing attack out by catching four balls for 46 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Ivy Bartlett of Grafton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 429. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Lawrence has rushed for 1237 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Washington. The Fairmont star has seven catches for 276 yards.
A big matchup in Big Ten this week will be when North Marion takes on Byrd. The Huskies are currently in 13th, while Bruce Carey's team is in second.
Bridgeport and the Hawks played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Bridgeport eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory. Brett Hathaway ran for 210 yards in the win.
