Scales Mound waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Galena Pirates by a score of 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Pirates back in September, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Scales Mound never let Galena on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15.

Ellaina Kostenbader paced Scales Mound's offense, picking up seven kills. Kostenbader got some help from Campbell Hereau and her 20 assists. Grace Behlke and Lydia Behlke kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the loss, Galena still got an impressive performance from Zoe Blaum, who had 13 digs.

Scales Mound's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Galena, they moved to 24-3 with that loss, which also ended their nine-match winning streak.

Scales Mound has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against West Carroll on the 18th. As for Galena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Teutopolis on the 18th.
