Softball Recap: Mountainside's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mountainside entered their tilt with Aloha on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 9-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Mavericks: when they faced off against the Warriors back in April, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

Jojo Appling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Patterson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Arbow, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Mountainside's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Aloha, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mountainside is set to square off against their familiar foe Southridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Aloha will challenge rival Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
