Recap: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Homestead Mustangs
The Cupertino Pioneers came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over Homestead. Given Cupertino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Homestead is ranked 746th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cupertino's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max Feldan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Soham Nighojkar was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Cupertino pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Cupertino will be playing at home against Santa Clara at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Clara has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 23. As for Homestead, they will head out on the road to square off against Lynbrook at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Lynbrook is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
