Volleyball Recap: Wiregrass Starts off Right with Win over Varsity Opponent

Wiregrass took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past Varsity Opponent 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Kings also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Wiregrass took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-4, 25-2.

Wiregrass found their leader in sophomore Josie Duren, who had eight aces.

Wiregrass was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 51 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Wiregrass will take on Marianna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Varsity Opponent has already played their next contest (against United), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
