Football Recap: Southwest EC Falls to Canyon Springs in First Game of Season

Southwest EC had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of the Canyon Springs Cougars. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Canyon Springs was led to victory by Andre Larry and Angel Robles. Larry rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while Robles threw for 190 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Larry didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made one tackle.

Coming up, Southwest EC will challenge Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Canyon Springs, they will square off against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
