4A Region III District 21 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Sharpstown extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 21 this week by beating Davis, 69-35. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
North Forest moved up to 298 from 370 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 70-7 win over Milby helped the Bulldogs improve their standing.
Tyron Washington and Tavon Dodd gave Reagan a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Washington threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns, while Dodd ran for 100 yards. Daniel Teal also contributed to the rushing game with 55 yards on the ground.
Everick Austin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Buffs fell to North Forest. Austin tallied five receptions for 77 yards. Gabriel Muniz helped Milby's passing attack out by catching three balls for 45 yards.
Carlos Salinas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Milby lost to Plez Atkins's team. He completed nine passes for 127 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 22 yards.
Phil Camp's team's Salinas and Austin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region III District 21 in both passing and receiving yards. Salinas has thrown for 647 yards this season, while Austin, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 17 catches for 345 yards. jerrod Taylor from Sharpstown leads the league in rushing with 336 yards.
Austin was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to eighth in the league. The Mustangs defeated the Mustangs 58-7 earlier in the week.
