Basketball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Independence Blue Devils

The Field Falcons will take on the Independence Blue Devils at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Field opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-40 loss to Streetsboro. The Falcons have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Brooklyn 54-15. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Field's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Field against Independence in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-23 win. In that match, Field amassed a halftime lead of 47-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
