Recap: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Berwick Panthers

The Centerville Bulldogs struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Berwick Panthers had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The contest between Centerville and Berwick wasn't particularly close, with Centerville falling 45-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Centerville of the 46-21 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Centerville still got an impressive performance from D?Irieyah Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Mitchell hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games.

Azyria Garrison was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds for Berwick. That makes it four consecutive games in which Garrison has scored at least a third of Berwick's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayr Knope, who scored nine points along with four steals.

Centerville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Berwick, their win bumped their record up to 19-9.

Centerville will head out on the road to face off against Vermilion Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Centerville is coming into the match with seven straight defeats on the road, meaning Vermilion Catholic will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Berwick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against E.D. White at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Berwick's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so E.D. White's offense will have their work cut out for them.
