Baseball Recap: Whitehaven Comes Up Short

Whitehaven was the 15-0 winner over Southwind when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Whitehaven Tigers came up short against the Southwind Jaguars on Thursday, falling 15-7. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Jaylon Dodson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dedrick Marshall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two stolen bases.

Even though they lost, Whitehaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .571 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Whitehaven fell to 1-1-1. As for Southwind, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitehaven will welcome Germantown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwind, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwind is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
