Basketball Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Fairmont Firebirds

Springboro hasn't had much luck against Fairmont recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Springboro Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fairmont Firebirds at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Springboro challenged Springfield on Tuesday. Springboro took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springfield. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Fairmont hadn't done well against Wayne recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fairmont narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Wayne 55-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Springboro's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1. As for Fairmont, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Springboro and Fairmont were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Springboro came up empty-handed after a 60-59 loss. Can Springboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
