Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Rams vs. Spanish Springs Cougars

The Rancho Rams will face off against the Spanish Springs Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Rancho knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Spanish Springs likes a good challenge.

Rancho heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sierra Vista. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (59), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Spanish Springs waltzed into their contest on Saturday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 67-49.

Spanish Springs' win came from a few key players Rancho will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Owen Hensley, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 12 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Brady Hummel, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Spanish Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matches.

Spanish Springs' victory bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 22-6.
