Football Recap: Kirby Takes a Loss

Kirby dropped to 4-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They were beaten by the Southwind Jaguars 51-0. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Southwind, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 46.9 points this season.

Kelvin Perkins was his usual excellent self, rushing for 68 yards and three TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Perkins' aerial production (102 yards to be exact) went to Shakim Atkinson.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kirby will host Lakeland Preparatory on Friday. As for Southwind, they will challenge Whitehaven at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
