Baseball Recap: Wagner Takes a Loss

Wagner was the 4-1 winner over Smithson Valley when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Thunderbirds came up short against the Rangers on Friday, falling 9-3. The Thunderbirds' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Wagner saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Flores, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Flores is becoming a predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-15 when he doesn't).

Wagner's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Smithson Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Wagner will venture away from home to square off against Boerne-Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smithson Valley, they will welcome Sotomayor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The WILDCATS will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight.
