Baseball Recap: Colorado Springs Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Colorado Springs Christian's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Calhan Bulldogs as the Colorado Springs Christian Lions made off with a 23-3 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Ben Garl was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Austin Leigh was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Colorado Springs Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhan only posted an OBP of .400.

The win got Colorado Springs Christian back to even at 1-1.

Colorado Springs Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 18-2 loss against Mesa Ridge on the 18th. As for Calhan, they will venture away from home to square off against Ellicott at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Calhan has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 25.
