Basketball Game Preview: Denison-Schleswig Monarchs vs. St. Albert Falcons

The Denison-Schleswig Monarchs will head out to challenge the St. Albert Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Denison-Schleswig has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight losses, while St. Albert will come in with 14 straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Denison-Schleswig took a blow against Lewis Central, falling 60-20. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Titans are ranked 96th).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for St. Albert against AHSTW on Monday as the squad secured a 56-19 win. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 26 points or more this season.

St. Albert's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.2 points. As for Denison-Schleswig, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Denison-Schleswig was dealt a bruising 59-26 loss at the hands of St. Albert in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Denison-Schleswig avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
