Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Frederick

Frederick unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Niwot Cougars on Thursday, falling 16-6.

Frederick saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alena Starr, who went 1-for-2 while logging 1 stolen base, 1 RBI, and 1 run.

Even though they lost, Frederick prevented the big hits and finished the game with no home runs against. That's the fewest home runs against they have managed all season.

Niwot's victory bumped their record up to 1-1.

Frederick wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-3 win against Timnath on the 21st. As for Niwot, they will challenge Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
