Basketball Game Preview: South Knox Spartans vs. Rensselaer Central Bombers

The South Knox Spartans will square off against the Rensselaer Central Bombers at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. South Knox knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 29 matches -- so hopefully Rensselaer Central likes a good challenge.

South Knox is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They took down Heritage Christian 58-40. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Eagles are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rensselaer Central came tearing into Saturday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Blazers by a score of 55-42.

Rensselaer Central's win came from a few key players South Knox will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Courtney Mathew, who to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. Taylor Van Meter was another key player, on her way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Rensselaer Central's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for South Knox, their win bumped their record up to 27-2.
