Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Vernon vs. Richland County

Mt. Vernon hasn't had much luck against Richland County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rams will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mt. Vernon is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Pinckneyville. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Mt. Vernon couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Richland County kept a clean sheet against Pinckneyville on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Panthers. The win continues a trend for Richland County in their matchups with Pinckneyville: they've now won four in a row.

Richland County's victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
