Volleyball Recap: Kenston Starts Season with Win Against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

Kenston had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals 2-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bombers have posted since September 12, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Kenston who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-27, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Danielle Johnson and Avari Amstutz, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Emily Grubich and her 14 assists. Amstutz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Coincidentally, Kenston and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will both be playing Stow-Munroe Falls the next time they take the court. The Bombers will host the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Royals will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
