Football Recap: Oviedo Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Oviedo strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Boone Braves by a score of 13-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Braves are ranked 197th).

One reason for the win was Oviedo's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. KIARA HERNANDEZ was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three herself. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more sacks the last 17 times she's played.

Oviedo pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.2 points on average over those games. As for Boone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oviedo will venture away from home to take on Lake Brantley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Boone, they will head out on the road to challenge East River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Braves 13.2, the Falcons 8.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
